Title of the report: Research on the Theory, Technology and Breeding Application of Distant Hybridization in Chinese Cabbage

Professor Duan Qiaohong, a Ph.D. graduate from Peking University and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Massachusetts, has long been engaged in the study of fertilization mechanisms in cruciferous plants. Her work has been published in scientific journals such as Nature and Nature Communications.

Since becoming a professor at Shandong Agricultural University in 2017, Professor Duan has focused on the regulation mechanism of self-incompatibility and distant hybridization reproductive isolation in Chinese cabbage. Her research results have been published in journals such as Nature and Current Biology, and two national invention patents have been granted for related breeding technologies. These findings provide theoretical and technical support for the creation of breakthrough germplasm and the breeding of new varieties of vegetables.
